On this Bonus Edition of The Pod Charles Cinecast, hosts Jonathan Foster & Fil Freitas decided to make a movie about making a movie.
It all gets meta, as we talk about Aaron Schimberg's 2019 surrealistic drama, CHAINED FOR LIFE. Starring Jess Weixler and Under The Skin's Adam Pearson, the film takes you down the rabbit hole, as it follows a beautiful actress who develops a relationship with her co-star who suffers from a rare facial deformity. Along the way, you will be treated to a menagerie of characters on the film set, including a group of disabled people the "foreign" art house director has bussed in as a "freak show".
Strap in for a wild time, with this criminally under seen film that pokes fun at independent filmmaking, beauty standards in film, and the exploitation and representation of disabled people in film and media. Think Robert Altman meets David Lynch, as there are many twists and turns that await you – including our boy Jack, from Steven Spielberg's Hook, coming out of retirement for a role as the "German" Director.
