Episode 7 – The Austrian Bundesliga is back and already full of surprises!
In this week’s episode of My Soccer Universe Football Talk, I recap the opening round of the 2025/26 Austrian Bundesliga — and it didn’t disappoint!
⚫ LASK kicked things off at home in a big clash against Sturm Graz, but the defending champions proved their class and walked away with the win. I share my thoughts on the match, LASK’s performance, and the excitement of opening night.
🏆 I also look back at last week’s ÖFB Cup action, where LASK did better — but not without surprises elsewhere!
🌍 With limited club football elsewhere, I touch on how Austrian teams performed in Europe, though I admit I didn’t catch every detail.
⚽ Saturday’s Bundesliga games brought three unexpected results:
WSG Tirol now sit top of the table!
Altach stunned Wolfsberg with a 2–0 away win
Reed, newly promoted, held RB Salzburg to a 1–1 draw!
🟣 Sunday saw the two Vienna giants in action after their European matches:
Rapid Vienna edged out Blau-Weiß Linz in a close game
Austria Vienna looked dominant but only managed a 2–2 draw against GAK, thanks to some worrying defending.
Finally, I give a short preview of what’s ahead in the league and how my vacation schedule might impact the next few episodes.
