In this episode, we are chatting with Alia and Mark, two amazing humans who alchemized trauma into healing power! Mark is a USMC and law enforcement veteran who currently works at a treatment center for other veterans, active duty, and first responders as a clinician. He’s currently a licensed chemical dependency counselor intern working on his licensed professional counselor certification, and will graduate with his master's in clinical mental health counseling next month.
Alia has a bachelor's with a dual emphasis in psychology and communication and a master's in psychology. She worked in the social services field for many years. She started as a peer counselor when she was in high school, then worked at a domestic violence shelter shortly after high school, and worked in and around child protection and foster family support for about 10 years, during which we became foster and then adoptive parents. Alia now works as a licensed tattoo artist and still utilizes her listening & communication skills today.
We talk about the connection between HSP & PTSD, the struggles of an HSP with PTSD, and how someone with PTSD can be an amazing support for others struggling with the same.
