In this passage, the risen Jesus appears to the disciples on the first Easter evening. Jesus is the one who brings peace because he is the one who was wounded for our forgiveness. And because of the gospel, for those who believe in Jesus, there is a new mission in the world as we go into the world as his people, enabled by the Spirit to spread the good news of the gospel of forgiveness to the world.
The mission is at the heart of this passage.
