Disney+'s Goosebumps: The Vanishing unfolds over eight episodes, beginning with the 1994 disappearance of four teenagers – including Anthony's brother, Matty – after a dare at the abandoned Fort Jerome, a former military experiment site. Thirty years later, Anthony, now a botanist, moves to Gravesend with his twins, Cece and Devin, determined to solve the mystery. His rule: stay out of the basement, where his research into the plant-based anomaly he believes is connected to the disappearances is located. The teens' lives intertwine with Frankie, Alex, and Trey, leading to further encounters with the alien entity from Fort Jerome. The entity infects Devin, then Cece, before attacking Anthony, revealing itself as a carnivorous plant-like organism that can possess its victims. The teens, aided by clues from a recovered videotape, ultimately confront the entity's creator, Ramona Pamani, who provides a serum to save Anthony, but not without consequences.
