As you transition out of adolescents and into adulthood, life begins by establishing your SELF. You’re establishing your career, your family, your reputation. This is what David Brooks calls the first mountain. Eventually, discontent sets in and you realize that there’s something more to life. You realize that there is more beyond the SELF.
If you follow this realization to its end, you’ll find that helping OTHERS is what will bring you purpose and fulfillment in life. This is what David Brooks calls the second mountain. Many people don’t make that transition from the first mountain to the second mountain and end up paying the price in the end. Today, we want to learn the lessons that those people didn’t learn so we don’t fall into that trap.
Because fulfillment and purpose are found when you go beyond your SELF and put your attention to helping OTHERS.
Here’s what we talk about…
· Why people who get stuck on the first mountain are sad and depressed…
· The difference between helping OTHERS and self-sacrifice…
· The story of Meriwhether Lewis and how his first mountain literally killed him…
· Why many Olympic and professional athletes lose at life after their career…
· Much more!
