Description

In this episode, I’m joined by ultrarunner, Navy veteran, caregiver, and single dad John Calabrese (@breezytrailhead) — someone who’s taken the long way around, and has a story that’ll stick with you.

From serving during 9/11 to battling addiction and finding purpose through caregiving and the ultrarunning community, John shares raw, funny, and deeply moving reflections on what it means to survive, adapt, and keep showing up — even when it’s messy. We talk about why so many of us turn to running when we’re looking for something — and how keeping it weird might just be the key.

We also drop a little teaser: John and I are teaming up to launch a brand new podcast called Shoe Sloots — all about testing janky running shoes, sharing gear horror stories, and embracing our mutual obsession with all things footwear. Follow us at @shoesloots to get in on the ground floor.
