After His resurrection and victory over death, Jesus’ very own disciples needed to be convinced! These people who spent 3 years walking with Him… witnessed the miraculous and were even used in the miraculous… saw the suffering that Jesus endured and had trouble believing that He could come back from the cross.
They need convincing like some of us need convincing that Jesus wasn’t shut down by death… for those needing proof, Jesus has provide proof: His scars.
The scars of crucifixion on His resurrected body was the proof that He wasn’t stopped but, in fact, was very much alive. He left the scars as proof that the pain He went through didn’t prevail. And the message for us on this Easter is that through the Holy Spirit that raised up Christ, your pain will not prevail!
Romans 8:11 "… And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you."
