அவருடைய நித்திரை திடீரென்று கலைந்தது. குழாயிலிருந்து தண்ர் சொட்டும் சத்தம் நிதர்சனமாகக் கேட்டது. தண்ர்க் குழாயைத் திறந்தால் வடிவாகப் பூட்டும்படி ஆயிரம் தடவை சொல்லியிருப்பார் யார் கேட்கிறார்கள்? அவர் ஆழ்ந்த நித்திரையாக இருக்கும்போது 'புக்காறா' விமானத்திலிருந்து குண்டு விழுந்தாலும் அவருக்க கேட்காது ஆனால் ஒரு சொட்டு தண்ர் அநாதையாக விழும் சத்தத்தை மாத்திரம் அவரால் தாங்கமுடியாது. அவருடைய மனைவிக்கும் மகளுக்கும் இதுதான் பெரிய ஆச்சரியம்.
