New Years' Light Show at Taipei 101

Are you ready to ring in the New Year?

The New Year's Eve show at the Taipei 101 is getting ready to go!

The theme for the event is "Embrace the World, Bling Your Dreams".

Officials say the show this year will be 5 minutes long.

It will use 16,000 fireworks.

The fireworks will be the same type (種類,款式) used at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

They say these fireworks hang in the sky after being fired.

They also do not create much smoke.

Taipei 101 will use the fireworks to make shapes such as wings and smiley faces.

Aside from the fireworks, the show will also use lights, lasers, animation and music.

The show will also use a new T-Pad LED light net.

This will let people on every side of the building see the show.

Officials expect around one million people to visit Taipei 101 to see the show.

People can see Christmas lights shows at Taipei 101 too.

The shows will happen this week Friday to Sunday.

The 150-second show will be on every 15 minutes, starting from 6:05pm each of those days.

World's Oldest Jeans

Do you have a pair of jeans (牛仔褲) in your closet?

Jeans are made of tough cloth

They can last a long time.

But how old is the oldest pair of jeans in the world?

The oldest pair of jeans ever found is at least 165 years old!

The jeans were found underwater, on a sunken ship (沉沒的船) in the ocean.

The ship was named S.S. Central America.

It was 85 meters long, and took people from Central America to the US during the 1850s.

But the ship sank during a hurricane in 1857.

Historians believe it was carrying around 21 tons of gold coins when it sank.

That's why the S.S. Central America also has a nickname, the "ship of gold".

The shipwreck was found in 1988.

And a pair of jeans were found in a box on the ship.

It has five buttons on the front.

It was white, but is now covered with grey, brown and white streaks (條紋).

Experts believe the jeans were worn by a man who was a miner.

The jeans were recently sold at an auction in the U.S., for $114,000 U.S. dollars.

That's about $3,500,000 NT (3
