台灣政府準備動物保護法修正案
Taiwan Government Prepares New Animal Protection Law
In many countries, like Taiwan, people have rights (權利).
Our rights help protect us from abuse.
我們的權利會幫我們防止被傷害。
Well, animals (動物) have rights too!
But… animals can't understand their rights.
So people need to make laws (法律) that protect animals.
And recently, Taiwan's Council of Agriculture (農業委員會) is working on some animal protection laws.
And one new law this month would be an amendment (修正草案) to Taiwan's Animal Protection Act (動物保護法).
It would give pet owners more responsibilities (強化寵物飼主責任).
It would also punish anyone who abandons an animal (會處罰任何棄養寵物的人).
And if anyone is abusing (虐待) any animal, it would let the police stop them more easily.
Finally, anyone who breaks this law may have to pay a fine of 250,000 NT!
The last time Taiwan changed its animal protection laws this much was in the year 1998.
That's 25 years with no updates!
近25年都沒有更新！
This new law could be a big step forward (重大的進步).
With this extra protection, hopefully Taiwan's pets can be happier and safer!

Star Wars Day
If you watch lots of movies or TV, then you've probably seen Star Wars (星際大戰).
The first Star Wars Movie came out in the year 1977.
星際大戰電影的第一部電影是1977年上映的。
And since then (自此之後), there have been many more Star Wars movies, and LOTS of series (劇集).
But no matter which one you watch, you'll probably hear its most famous line…
不管你看哪一部，你大概會聽到星際大戰最有名的台詞：
"May the Force be with you."
【願原力與你同在。】
And because it sounds like today's date, "May the Fourth"…
因為英文的台詞聽起來很像今天的日期，五月四日…
Today is Star Wars Day!
Every year, people celebrate Star Wars Day by watching movies, having parties, and dressing up as Star Wars characters (打扮成星際大戰的角色).
*CHEWBACCA (丘巴卡)* Ha! Did I get it…?
And you can hear lots of people saying, "May the Fourth be with you" (五月四日與你同在).
If you don't want to celebrate Star Wars, that's okay.
But if you DO want to celebrate, there are lots of ways to do it!

Okay, so everybody knows, art can be pretty weird.
For example, one piece of art became very famous in 2019…
But it's not a painting (不是一幅畫)…
And it's not a dance, or a song, or a statue (也不是雕像)…
No, it's just a banana taped to a wall!
2019年一個很有名的藝術品其實只是一個用膠帶貼上牆壁的香蕉！
The wall… The… "wall banana" was put up by an artist from Italy (義大利的藝術家).
He calls this piece of art "The Comedian" (喜劇演員)…
And in 2019, he sold it (賣掉了) for 120,000 US dollars, or around 3.7 million NT (大約三百七十萬台幣)!
Why didn't I think of that?
為什麼我自己沒先想出這個主意呢？
But… this crazy banana story just keeps getting crazier.
This month, the wall banana was on display in a museum in South Korea (在南韓的博物館展覽展示)…
And then, suddenly, it was EATEN by a museum visitor!
這個月，牆壁香蕉突然被博物館的來賓瞬間吃掉！
A young student walked over to the art, took it off the wall, and ate it.
When people asked him why he did it, he said he forgot to eat breakfast, so he was hungry.
But wait… if you leave a banana in a museum, doesn't it go bad (爛掉)?
Well, um… yeah. Yeah it does. And an OLD wall banana would be pretty gross (噁心).
So museum employees replace the old wall banana with a new one, every few days.
每幾天，博物館的員工把舊的牆壁香蕉換成新的。
And that's why the museum didn't punish the banana thief (沒給他任何處罰).
But wait again, if the museum is putting up new wall bananas, aren't THEY the artists?
WHAT IS GOING ON?!
