Sleepy Passenger Gets Emergency Brake Blues
Ah…taking the train can be such a relaxing way to travel…
Unless somebody pulls the emergency brake!
Someone on a super-fast train in Taiwan hit the "big red button".
But it wasn't exactly for an emergency.
Police say the man from Taitung was on an EMU3000 train.
The train was going from Taitung to Hualien County.
And the man fell asleep…and missed his stop.
So what did he do?
He got up and pulled the emergency brake!
The train came to an unplanned stop at Jinlun Station.
But now, this snoozing passenger may face a hefty fine…maybe up to $1 million NT!
That's definitely more than the cost of a ticket!
Fortunately the train wasn't damaged (受損).
Everyone on the train had to get off.
They had to take another train to get to their stop.
But at least no one was hurt.
So what should you do if you miss your stop on the train?
Railway police say you can ask the conductor for help.
They say the emergency brake is ONLY for emergencies!
Using that for any other reason is breaking the law.

Ariel the Mermaid Dog Gets Her Happy Ending
A dog named after a princess has found her happy ending!
The black puppy was found abandoned (丟棄) in a parking lot in the UK.
But she was just a little different from other puppies.
She had six legs!
Her rescuers named her "Ariel", because her two extra legs looked a little like a mermaid's tail.
Vets checked her over.
They said Ariel was mostly healthy.
But she needed an operation (手術) to remove her extra legs, or they could hurt her in the future.
The vets said they had never seen a puppy quite like Ariel.
The surgery to remove her extra legs would cost around $9,000 US dollars.
But her rescuers did not have that much money.
They posted Ariel's story online.
Word about the mermaid dog spread around the world.
And everyone wanted to help.
In the end, Ariel got more than $19,000 US dollars in donations.
Two vets worked on Ariel for her surgery.
It was very complicated, and they had to be very careful.
But in the end, they left Ariel with four working legs.
Ariel
The puppy is now resting and getting stronger in a foster home
Her foster family is helping her practice using her legs.
They say she is already playing and eating, and is a very happy puppy!
And more than 200 people have asked about adopting (領養) Ariel.
They hope Ariel can soon find her furever home!
