Taiwan's First Female Political Warfare Bureau Chief

Taiwan's military is making history.

For the first time ever, a woman is leading the Political Warfare Bureau (政戰局).

The bureau focuses on special strategies to protect Taiwan and its people from outside influences.

Lieutenant General Chen Yu-lin (陸軍中將陳育琳) is known as the "big sister" in the army.

She is Taiwan's first female two-star lieutenant general (第一位掛二顆星的女將軍) and has held many important roles.

She led military work on Matsu Island, served at the 6th Army Corps, and even became the first female dean at the National Defense University's Fu Hsin Kang College

Taking over her current role will be Major General Shih Shun-wen.

He will also receive a promotion (晉升) because the job he's moving into is quite important.

This change is a big deal.

It shows that leadership roles are for everyone, regardless of whether they are male or female.

But the new job is challenging

Lieutenant General Chen has to protect Taiwan from fake news from China

The plan is to mix different parts of the army to make a "Military News Center."

This new center could help Taiwan be even better at protecting itself.

Lieutenant General Chen is a role model (楷模), showing that girls can also be strong leaders (領導者).

It proves that anyone can break through old rules and traditions (打破陳舊的規則和傳統) to do something amazing.

So, it's an exciting time for Taiwan's military and an inspiration (靈感) for future leaders.

Tasty Tidbit

How many bones do you have in your body?

Well, all together, every human has around 206 bones. That's a lot!

But what about other animals?

A sheep has only 110 bones… and an elephant has around 282!

So if a whale is the biggest animal on Earth, it should have the most bones, right?

Nope! Some whales have around 180 bones… that's less than humans, mainly because they don't have legs or feet!

And which animal has the most bones? Sssssss… Snakes!

Because snakes can keep growing, and growing, and growing… some of them can have more than 800 bones in their whole body.

That's crazy. I'm okay with 206!
