有線電視面對娛樂產業轉變
Cable TV Faces Changing Entertainment Industry
Many people like watching TV.
The television was invented about a century ago.
Since then, TV has been a mainstream (主流) kind of entertainment.
Grab some snacks and drinks, and you're ready to watch your favorite show or movie.
In the last 10 years, the technology of television has advanced a lot.
But government data shows that the number of cable subscribers fell to a new low this year.
That means fewer people are paying for cable TV now.
In fact, the number of cable subscribers has been falling for many years now.
Now, around 4.55 million people pay for cable TV.
Why is this happening?
Many people are finding entertainment in other places.
Some are now using streaming platforms (串流平台).
On these platforms, there's no commercials.
And you can pause anytime you like.
Some people also say that shows on TV are not very interesting anymore.
They say there are too many reruns (重播).
And some say many of the shows are about the same.
Some cable TV companies are trying ways to bring back customers.
Some of these companies now offer broadband (寬頻) internet service with cable TV.
But many customers only want internet service.
They don't watch cable TV.
And other companies now offer internet and streaming platforms along with their cable TV.
Even with offers like this, the number of subscribers still dropped.
有線電視訂閱者的減少也導致許多頻道的停播。
It looks like the way we find entertainment is definitely changing.

遊客站立自拍,威尼斯貢多拉翻船
Best Stay Sitting on Venice Gondolas
Some tourists visiting Venice landed in deep water, after not following the rules.
The five visitors were enjoying a ride on one of the city's famed gondolas (貢多拉).
The gondolier (船夫) was moving the boat under a low bridge.
And the visitors all moved to one side of the boat.
They wanted to take a selfie (自拍).
The gondolier had asked them to stay sitting during the ride.
But maybe they didn't understand.
With everyone standing on one side, the boat capsized (翻覆)!
Everyone fell into the water.
No one was hurt, but one visitor lost their cellphone.
The gondola was not damaged.
But the soft cushions (軟墊) and blankets all fell into the canal (運河).
Italy has been trying to find ways to deal with tourists who do not follow the rules.
Many people are traveling again, and Italy is getting lots of visitors.
And some are behaving badly.
Some travelers swam in Venice's canals, even though that is against the law.
One person carved words onto the walls of the Colosseum (羅馬競技場).
Two other visitors threw their scooters down the Spanish Steps in Rome.
Some say this kind of bad behavior is a phenomenon (現象) called "holiday madness."
They say it happens because traveling to another place gives us a feeling that no one knows who we are.
Some may feel like no one will catch them even if they do something bad.
Psychologists (心理學家) also say these people want internet clout (影響力).
They want more likes and followers.
Many other tourists are worried that this bad behavior will bring stricter restrictions (規定).
We need to respect the culture and rules of the place we're visiting.
未來,我們如果只能從遠處觀看古蹟及博物館展示品的話,那就真的太可惜了。

Tasty Tidbit
For today's Tasty Tidbit…
No spoons needed! Do you ever wonder how butterflies enjoy the sweet taste of nectar? You might be surprised to learn…that butterflies taste with their FEET!
Yup, those delicate little legs have something called "tarsal chemoreceptors". These parts help the butterfly taste their food. So when a butterfly lands on a flower, those parts tell them if the nectar will taste good. And yes, if a butterfly lands on you, it can probably taste you too!
If you have a fun fact, a joke, or interesting news you'd like to share with us, record your message and send us your Tasty Tidbit, to newsbites@icrt.com.tw, and you might hear your voice at the end of an episode.
Tune in again next time, for an all new episode of News Bites!
