New Taipei City Reminds Residents of Fireworks Ban
Fireworks!
They can be a lot of fun to watch…
But they can also be pretty dangerous (相當危險).
So, in many countries, they are illegal (違法).
But in Taiwan, they are legal (合法)… sometimes.
There are many types of fireworks, like firecrackers (鞭炮), which don't give off much light (不會發很多光).
And there are much bigger fireworks (煙火), which go up in the sky at night, and give off LOTS of light (會很亮).
Still, there is another thing they all have in common…
還有一個很大的共同點…
Fireworks are LOUD.
So as we get closer to Lunar New Year (春節), some cities in Taiwan are reminding people (提醒大家) that they cannot use fireworks at night (晚上不能放鞭炮).
For example, in New Taipei, people who set off fireworks (放鞭炮或煙火) between 10 PM and 6 AM could get a fine (罰款).
And there are similar laws (類似的法律) in many cities around Taiwan.
So, you can still have fun in the daytime, but remember to be safe…
And remember that some people are trying to sleep!

Technology Exhibition Shows Off New Gadgets
Throughout history (歷史), there have been many famous inventors (有名的發明家).
To "invent" something means to make something the world has never seen before.
According to history, the first printing press (印刷機) was invented in China…
The first telescope (望遠鏡) was invented in Europe…
And the first telephone (電話) was invented in the U.S.
Now, our world is moving so fast that there are new inventions (發明的東西) all the time.
And there are even big exhibitions (展覽) where we can see lots of new inventions at once!
One exhibition is a tech show called the "C.E.S." which shows off (展示) all kinds of new inventions.
This year, there were digital tattoos (數位刺青), and electric skates (電子溜冰鞋)…
There was an electric bicycle that can be folded up (能摺疊起來)…
There was a bird feeder (餵鳥器) that helps identify different kinds of birds…
There was a dog collar (狗項圈) that tells you how much your dog exercises (運動)…
And there was even a machine you can bite (咬下去) that will automatically brush your teeth (能自動幫你刷牙)!
The inventors of all this crazy new technology were happy to share their hard work, and you can still see their inventions on the internet.
Who knows, maybe all these inventions could give you some ideas, too!

英國出現兩腿狐狸
Two-Legged Fox Seen in the U.K.
Okay, this story is a short one…
There is a couple (情侶) in England, living in a big house, near lots of forests (森林).
And they often see lots of animals from these forests, visiting their house and lawn (草地).
But recently, they saw something very unique (獨特的).
"Hey, come quick! Look at this!"
"What is it?"
They saw a fox… with only its two front legs!
他們看到了一隻狐狸，但是牠只有兩隻前腿！
"We've got a two-legged fox on the lawn!"
Obviously (當然), foxes usually have four legs.
So because this fox had no back legs, it had to walk on its front legs.
That would be like you walking on only your hands, everywhere you go!
But the couple says it stayed on their lawn for about 45 minutes, and then walked away.
And they say it looked healthy (健康的)!
In reality (事實上), there are many more animals, and even some of us people, with problems like this.
But if we can learn from this two-legged fox… then there's still so much we can do!
