Let's have a listen!

Taiwan Sets Standards for Repairability

How old is your phone?

Phones… computers… TVs… if you use electronic devices (電子產品) for a long time, then someday, they might break (壞掉).

And if your devices break (如果你的電子產品壞掉), you might need to find someone who can repair them (修理它們).

But how do we know if they break?

And how much can we repair them?

Well, Taiwan's government wants to help people understand each electronic thing's "repairability" (能修理的度量).

The Environmental Protection Administration wants companies to clearly show each device's "repairability score".

That way, we can buy something repairable (比較容易修理), and fix it when we need to!

And we won't have to buy a new device, every time the old one breaks.

So, before you go buy a new phone…

Make sure it's easy to fix!

NASA Explains its Unexplained Mysteries

Have you ever seen a "UFO" (幽浮)?

Actually, "UFO" stands for "Unidentified Flying Object" (不明飛行物).

That means, if you see something in the sky, and you don't know what it is… that's a UFO!

And recently, NASA (美國太空總署) held a meeting to talk about all kinds of strange phenomena (奇怪的現象), like UFOs.

NASA says they receive almost 100 UFO reports every month!

But, they say, most of these phenomena have already been explained.

For example, they say UFOs can look like mysterious, moving lights in the sky

But then, later, they are actually just planes and satellites

There are also lots of other mysterious phenomena

NASA says one time, Australian scientists heard a strange signal (聽到奇怪的訊號), every day around lunchtime…

And later, they found out the signal was coming from microwave ovens, making lunch!

So, NASA says it wants to help people understand that most things are not actually so mysterious.

It says most of these can be explained with science

Of course, there are still some things we haven't explained… YET.

But just because we don't know what something is, doesn't mean it's an alien!

What is Manhattanhenge?

You might know about "Stonehenge" (巨石陣).

Stonehenge is in England (英國), and it's… well, it's a bunch of big rocks.

The Stonehenge rocks were arranged in a circle, around two or three thousand years ago…

And on the summer solstice (夏至的時候), the sunrise shines light through its middle!

Stonehenge is pretty cool… but it's also pretty old.

Do we have anything newer?

Yes! And this year, thousands of people in New York City (紐約) went to see it.

Every year, in New York City's Manhattan District, you can see the sunset shine light all the way down a long, long street, right between the buildings.

But this special sunset only happens on a few days each year, and only for around 20 minutes each time.

And when one scientist saw this sunset, it reminded him of Stonehenge, in England.

So he decided to call it "Manhattanhenge" (曼哈頓懸日), for New York.

It may not seem that special, but scientists say this rare sunset can remind us of astronomy (天文學), on a normal day in the city.

Maybe we can find one in Taiwan?
