台東驚現6公尺大皇帶魚
Giant Oarfish Caught in Taitung

Many people enjoy fishing.

But one man in Taitung got a lot more than he bargained for (出乎某人意料之外)!

Mr. Lin went fishing on a beach in Tai-ma-li Township.

But when he felt something pull on his fishing rod (釣魚竿), he knew it was something big.

He struggled (掙扎) to pull up the fish.

Other fishermen close by came to help.

It took Mr. Lin and five other fishermen around 40 minutes to catch the big fish.

And this fish was a BIG one.

It's a giant oarfish.

The giant oarfish lives in the ocean.

It has a long, flat body, that looks a bit like a ribbon (緞帶).

That's why it's sometimes also called a ribbonfish.

The giant oarfish is silver, with some blue spots.

And its fins (鰭) are orange and red.

They are very big and long.

Many grow up to 3 meters long.

And some people say they can grow up to 11 meters long!

The giant oarfish that Mr. Lin caught was 6 meters long.

That's about as long as 3 or 4 adults added together!

And it weighed 130 kilograms.

這條皇帶魚身長近6公尺,重量有130公斤,非常大尾。

Experts say the giant oarfish mostly lives deep in the ocean.

They say it doesn't go into shallow water (淺海) often.

Mr. Lin said his arms really hurt, but he was very excited.

南非藝術家用行動對抗塑膠汙染
South African Artist Turns Plastic Garbage into Art

Artists use all kinds of things to make art.

Some use paint, some use stone, some even use metal.

But one artist from South Africa is using plastic garbage.

Mbongeni Buthelezi finds plastic garbage from city streets and landfills (垃圾場).

He uses the plastic to make colorful and detailed (精細的) pictures.

He says "Animals are dying, fish in the ocean are dying, because of this material, and because of us as human beings".

Mbongeni says we need to take responsibility (負起責任).

Mbongeni grew up in a small village with lots of cows.

He says he would often see the cows die, because they ate plastic garbage along with grass.

This made him think a lot about how plastic hurts the environment.

Mbongeni started using plastic garbage for his art, because he didn't have money to buy paint or other art materials.

He says when he was studying art in school, there was a landfill close by.

He says he saw brightly-colored plastic in the landfill.
他看到垃圾場裡有許多顏色鮮豔的塑膠垃圾。

And he decided to collect them and use them for his art.

Mbongeni uses a tool (工具) that blows hot air on the plastic to make it melt (融化).

Then he uses the plastic to make beautiful pictures.

Mbongeni says he wants to use his art to fight plastic pollution.

And he also hopes the art will help people think more about this problem.

The artist says the world can give us everything we need to make art.

He says there is no need to produce (製造) more materials.

Some people tell Mbongeni that he will run out of plastic one day.

They say then, he wouldn't be able to make his art.

But Mbongeni says if that really happens, he would be happy!

Mbongeni says the end of plastic garbage is what he is fighting for.
