Good afternoon, and let's chow down on some News Bites!
I'm Paz Bueno…
And I'm Trevor Tortomasi.
In today's news:
A giant rabbit for the Lantern Festival, the world's most powerful radio telescope, and a toy dog travels by plane!
Stay tuned and we'll tell you more about these stories, coming up next!

Taiwan Lantern Festival to Feature Giant Rabbit
How many Taiwan festivals can you name?
There's the Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival… the Ghost Festival… the Dragon Boat Festival…
And, as you probably know from the title, the Lantern Festival (元宵節)!
The Tourism Bureau has been hosting (舉辦) the Taiwan Lantern Festival for years.
It attracts (吸引) visitors and lets more people around the world know about Taiwan's culture.
From 1990 to 2000, the festival was always hosted in Taipei.
Since 2001, the event has been hosted by a different city every year.
The event is finally returning home after 23 years.
Taipei City will host the Lantern Festival for 2023!
The theme (主題) of the event will be "Light up the Future."
A total of 16 installations (設施) will be put up across the city.
Installations will be set up in Taipei's popular central, east and Xinyi districts.
One of the main attractions will be a large rabbit lantern on the roof of one of the exits of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station.
The 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival will be taking place in Taipei from February 5th through 19th.

The World's Most Powerful Radio Telescope
Science and technology go hand-in-hand.
Technology helps create new tools (工具) we can use to study the world around us.
These new tools are called inventions (發明).
Think about the most useful inventions around you.
A pencil, a computer, a smartphone…
We can use all of these to learn about our amazing world!
Another piece of equipment (設備) that scientists use is a telescope.
It's an instrument (工具) that can help us see things that are far away, like the moon!
It's like a tube with mirrors or lenses in it.
Another useful tool for scientists is a radio telescope
It's like a telescope, because it helps us know more about things that are far away.
But instead of seeing them, the radio telescope hears them!
In Australia and South Africa, they're building the biggest radio telescope network (網絡) in the world.
Australia and South Africa have a lot of land in remote areas
That makes them perfect for the project, because there's little radio disturbance
More than 150,000 antennas will look for - or listen carefully for - radio waves (無線電波) that come from space.
The project is called the Square Kilometre* Array, or S.K.A. for short.
*UK/AU: "kilometer", and US: "kilometer"
130,000 antennas (衛星天線盤) will be in West Australia.
Its mission is to solve mysteries about the creation of stars, galaxies and extraterrestrial life.
A professor says the telescope "will be one of humanity's biggest-ever scientific endeavors" (將是人類有史以來最大的科學貢獻之一).

A Toy Dog's Traveling Adventure
Traveling is a lot of fun.
Going someplace new is exciting and challenging.
You need to make sure you pack (打包) everything you'll need.
When you travel, what do you always bring?
Ten-year-old Luna from the United States always brings her favorite toy when she travels.
It's a stuffed toy dog
But, when Luna was traveling by airplane, she accidentally (不小心) left her toy behind.
Luna and her mom called the airline company (航空公司), asking for help to bring it home.
An airline worker found the toy, but now the toy dog needed to travel back home!
The airline company took pictures of the toy's adventure and posted them online.
The toy dog enjoyed the view of the sky from the airplane window.
The toy dog read the in-flight magazine (機上雜誌) to make sure it knew how to stay safe.
And drank some fancy sparkling water (昂貴的蘇打水) on the plane.
A month later, the toy dog finally returned to Luna.
From the pictures, it looks like he had a wonderful adventure!
