In today's news, with Trevor and Paz:
Taiwan protects native plants, chess players talk about cheating, and dogs sniff out stress.
We've got more on those stories, coming up next.

Taiwan Marks Invasive Plant Risk Levels
When we look at Taiwan's beautiful scenery (風景), we can see lots and lots of green.
That's because Taiwan has a high diversity of plants
But, even though plants can help the landscape look amazing, not all of them are good for Taiwan's environment!
In fact, many plants are "invasive" (侵略性的).
"Invasive" comes from the word "invade" (侵略), which means to go somewhere you shouldn't be.
This is a problem because when new plant species (植物種類) are added, they can affect Taiwan's natural balance (自然平衡).
Some kinds of plants are okay, but others grow so quickly that they take resources (資源) from Taiwan's native plants (原生植物).
So Taiwan's government is working to stop certain invasive plants from entering the country.
They include plants like smooth cordgrass (互花米草) and bitter vines (小花蔓澤蘭).
The government has marked some invasive plants as more dangerous than others, so Taiwan's customs workers know which ones to focus on.
Plants that grow too fast and take water from native species are marked with a higher risk level (高風險).
And plants that are easy to get rid of (消滅) are marked with a lower risk level.
We don't have to be afraid of new things, but it's good to understand how we can keep things in balance!

Chess Champion Calls Opponent a Cheater
In English, there is an old saying
"Cheaters never prosper."
It means that people who cheat (作弊), or do things against the rules (違反規則), will never win.
Unfortunately, in real life (事實上), cheaters win very often.
And that's not fair (不公平) to people who work hard and follow the rules!
Recently, one famous player of chess (西洋棋) has also been accused of cheating (被指控在作弊).
The chess world champion (世界冠軍), a German man named Magnus Carlsen, was playing in a high-level chess tournament (高段的西洋棋比賽) against an American player named Hans Niemann.
The chess champion Carlsen made just one move (只走了一步)… and then quit (放棄了)!
Everyone was very surprised (驚訝) that one of the world's best players would do that.
But Carlsen said he refused to play chess against a cheater.
Carlsen
But whether he cheated or not (不管他有沒有作弊), many chess tournaments are being more careful now, to make sure every game is played fairly and follows the rules.
It has also reminded people (提醒人) how important it is to be honest (誠實).
Even though we can't make everything fair all of the time, we still have to try our best!

Dogs Sniff Out Stress
Do you feel stressed out?
If you feel lots of stress every day, you might be able to hide it (隱藏起來) from your family and friends.
But new research says you might not be able (可能沒有辦法) to hide it from a dog!
Scientists recently ran some experiments, to see if dogs can sense stress in humans.
And experiment results (實驗結果) show that they can!
But how did scientists work it out?
First, they put some people in low-pressure situations (沒什麼壓力的情況), and took a sample (樣本) of their smell.
Then, they put those people into high-pressure situations (高壓的情況), like taking a math test (數學考試), and took another smell sample.
Finally, they gave the different samples to dogs, to see if they could smell the difference
And out of 700 tests, the dogs could smell the difference 650 times!
But scientists are still trying to see if dogs can smell the differences between many other emotions (情緒).
In the meantime (同時), if you're feeling stressed out, maybe hugging a dog could help!

And,
The chess world champion has accused an American player of cheating.
The American player said he had cheated in the past, but that he wasn't anymore.
But whether he cheated or not, many chess tournaments are being more careful now, to make sure every game is played fairly and follows the rules.
