Giant Rubber Duck Returns to Kaohsiung
Rub-a-dub-dub…
A giant rubber duck is back for a quacking good time!
A famous rubber duck is heading back to Kaohsiung later this month.
This giant yellow duck is a piece of art.
It was made by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman.
The duck is actually famous around the world.
It has been on show in many cities.
Hofman actually makes a new duck for every city.
The first giant rubber duck was made for Saint-Nazaire, a city in France, in 2007.
Since then, his toy ducks have floated (漂浮) in the waters of almost 30 cities around the world, including Osaka, Los Angeles, and Auckland.
And the duck has been shown in Taiwan many times too.
In 2013, it visited Keelung, Taoyuan, and Kaohsiung.
That duck was 18 meters tall.
That's more than 4 floors high!
At that time, it was on show in Kaohsiung for 32 days.
And 3.9 million people visited the duck during that time.
This time around the rubber duck will float around in Love River Bay.
It will stay there from January 27th until February 25th.
Hofman visited the bay.
The artist checked that it would work for the duck.
He also said the city had grown a lot in 10 years.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai says the duck will be in Kaohsiung just in time for the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival.
The mayor says people visiting the area may start to see pictures of the duck on famous places in the city.
And he says many other fun events will be held near Love River Bay.
There will be a holiday market.
And there will winter wonderland activities.

A Tennis Tale with a Slithery Surprise
Tennis is an exciting sport.
Professional tennis matches are very intense (激烈).
There is often a lot of prize money.
And the players are very famous.
You never know what's going to happen.
The yellow ball flying back and forth often keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.
But one recent tennis match was a shock, even for the players!
It happened in Australia, at the Brisbane International.
Tennis star Dominic Thiem was playing against James McCabe.
Both players were hitting hard, and doing their best.
But suddenly, a slithery surprise showed up on the tennis court (網球場).
It was a snake, a real, live snake!
And this wasn't just any old snake…
It was an eastern brown snake.
This snake is the second most venomous (有毒的) snake in the world.
Experts say this snake lives in many parts of Australia.
In fact, they say the bite of an eastern brown snake causes more deaths than any other snakes in Australia.
And this eastern brown snake slithered onto the court!
Dominic said he really loves animals, but this was a very dangerous situation.
The snake was quite close to the ballkids (球童).
Everyone tried to stay calm.
They called a snake catcher.
The snake catcher safely scooped up the snake…
And the game was back on!
Actually at first, Dominic was not doing very well.
It looked like he was about to lose.
But he did not give up.
Even after the snake scare, he kept trying hard.
He fought back, point by point…
Until he turned the tables, and won the match!
Dominic says this surprising match was something that has never happened to him.
And he says it's something he'll definitely never forget!

Tasty Tidbit
And in today's Tasty Tidbit…
Getting some "shut-eye" means getting some sleep.
And that kind of makes sense, because usually you would shut your eyes to sleep.
But did you know, that dolphins sleep with one eye open? They rest half their brain at a time. The left eye will be closed when the right half of the brain sleeps, and vice versa.
This helps them keep an eye out for sharks or other types of danger!
If you have a fun fact or a joke you'd like to share with us, record your message and send us your Tasty Tidbit to newsbites@icrt.com.tw, and you might hear it at the end of an episode!
We'll see you next time for an exciting new episode of News Bites!
