How Much Are Your School Notes Worth?

When you're a student it is important to take very good notes (好好做筆記) in class.

As you know, taking good notes can make reviewing (複習) easier.

Those notes help you study more efficiently

One student at a high school in Taipei took such great school notes that she was able to sell them online.

The notes were not cheap.

The student sold the notes for $2,600 NT dollars.

And because she made more than 2,650 copies, she was able to sell her notes for almost $6.9 million NT!

The notes were on subjects including Chinese, English, mathematics, history, geography, civics, physics, and chemistry.

While that student might have taken good notes, we don't know if the notes she took helped her get top marks

And while this might seem like an interesting idea, you still need to pay close attention in class, and take your own notes.

Taking your own notes will help you to think through something

Writing your own notes also helps you to understand and remember what you learned.

And when you practice taking notes, you get better at it!

A New Way to Use a Historic Castle Moat

A moat is a deep and narrow ditch (水溝) that goes around a castle.

Many centuries ago (好幾世紀前), moats were used to keep away enemies (敵人).

Scientists say the first moats were found in ancient Egypt.

They were also found in South East Asia.

But when we see moats, we think of Europe's castles (城堡), where they were used to try and make it difficult for enemies to enter.

One of the most popular castles in the world is the Tower of London (倫敦塔).

History books (歷史書籍) say it is the same shape as it was in the year 1270.

The moat at the Tower of London was once full of fish, and for a while, it also became very stinky (臭), because it was very polluted (被汙染的).

So it was decided that the moat would be drained (排空), which meant all the water was taken away.

The moat has been dry ever since.

But the people taking care of the Tower of London want to use the land.

So for a while it was used as a place to grow vegetables.

It was also a place where soldiers (士兵) could camp (駐紮).

And during special occasions it would be used as a flower garden.

The moat has been turned into a flower garden again for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee (白金禧).

That means she's been queen for 70 years.

To celebrate the anniversary (周年) the Tower of London has created a special flower garden.

People can visit, by traveling down a slide into the old moat.

If you like flowers, visiting the moat sounds like fun, since you'll get to see about 29 different types of flowers growing there.

"Top Gun" Wins Big at the Box Office

People didn't know what to think when they heard that Tom Cruise made a new "Top Gun".

The 1986 movie was very famous, so some people were worried that the sequel (續集) would not do very well.

But they shouldn't have worried.

"Top Gun: Maverick" could be Tom Cruise's biggest movie ever.
"捍衛戰士:獨行俠"可能會成為湯姆克魯斯生涯最賣座作品。

"Top Gun: Maverick" already earned more than $160 million U.S. dollars three days after it first opened (開片).

Both the reviews (評論) and the audiences (觀眾) who saw the movie say it is very good.

Because so many people enjoyed the movie, the actor could earn much, much more.
