台北大巨蛋明年開幕
Taipei Dome Opening Next Year
If you live in Taiwan, you've probably heard of the Taipei Arena (小巨蛋).
If you translate that into English, it means "Little-Huge Egg".
Well, are you ready for the "BIG-HUGE EGG"?
The Taipei Dome (大巨蛋) is way bigger, and it's FINALLY almost finished.
It's right across from Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall (在國父紀念館的對面), so if you've been to Taipei, then you've probably seen it!
It was originally supposed to start construction in the year 2007…
原本大巨蛋 2007 年就該開始動工…
But it actually started construction in 2011, and should be ready to open in 2023.
That means it took more than 10 years to build it!
And if you look at a picture of it, you can see why.
Inside of the gigantic dome, there is a giant sports stadium (體育場) with more than 40,000 seats (四萬張椅子).
And that's why the dome's first big event (第一個大型活動) is going to be a baseball game (棒球比賽), which could happen as early as June of next year.
But that's not all!
All around the Big-Huge Egg, there are beautiful parks and lots of places to shop.
And it's already a really nice place to hang out (出去玩).
So the next time you're in Taipei City, go check it out!

一位女士成功沿海泳渡整個英國西岸
Woman Swims Length of U.K.
Swimming in the ocean can be pretty fun, when you're close to the shore (離海岸很近).
Of course, you have to be careful not to swim out into deep water (深水).
The waves (海浪) could pull you away from shore, and there could be dangerous animals swimming around you.
But there's one person who doesn't care about any of that.
A 23-year-old woman in the U.K. swam from the coast of southwest England (英國的西南岸) all the way to the coast of northern Scotland (蘇格蘭的北岸).
She started swimming in July, and just finished in October.
That's more than 1,400 kilometers (一千四百公里), in less than four months!
In total (總共), she swam for 110 days, for up to 12 hours each day.
So, how does it feel to swim around a whole country?
Well, she says it was cold and uncomfortable.
While she was swimming, she was stung by jellyfish (被水母螫傷) and even followed by a shark (被鯊魚跟蹤).
But for most of the journey, she had a friend in a boat nearby, who gave her food to eat, including lots of chocolate!
She says she went on the journey to inspire people (激勵人們), but also to support charity (支持慈善機構).
You might not like swimming as much as she does, but that's okay.
Maybe you can think of a different way to inspire others!

汽車駕駛撞破古代的廁所
Man Crashes Car into Ancient Restroom
When driving a car, most people should know the difference between forwards (往前) and backwards (往後).
But when you're not paying attention…
當你不專心開車的時候…
A man in Japan recently drove his car in reverse (倒車) at a really bad time.
First, he parked his car (停車) in front of an ancient temple (古寺).
But when he started his car again, he forgot it was in reverse!
他重新開啟他的汽車的時候,他忘了還在用倒車的模式!
And then…
"Oh no! My toilet!"
His car crashed (撞破) into the temple's restroom (廁所,洗手間).
And this temple is about 700 years old (七百年前蓋的)!
So, some people are pretty angry.
Luckily, the ancient toilets (古時候的馬桶) are just holes in the ground (地上的洞), so they're still okay.
And people say the temple can be fixed (可以被復原).
He might have made the "restroom" into a "restVROOM"…
But let's hope you can drive better than that!
