台灣新的菸害防制法
Taiwan's New Tobacco Laws
You probably know that smoking is bad for your health.
你大概已經知道吸菸對你的身體健康有害。
And once you start to smoke cigarettes (香菸), it can be very hard to stop (很難戒).
So, to change the habit (為了改掉自己的習慣), some people try smoking "E-cigarettes" (電子菸).
But, there's a problem…
E-cigarettes are bad for you, too!
電子菸也對身體不好！
So, Taiwan's government has recently passed a new law (通過了新的法律), called the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act (菸害防制法).
The new law bans smoking in many public places, including at universities.
這個新法律禁止人在很多公共處所吸菸，包括在大學校園。
The law also makes most E-cigarettes illegal (違法).
And it raises the legal smoking age (提升合法吸菸年紀) from 18 to 20.
Anyone who breaks this law (違反這法律的人) may have to pay a big fine (罰款).
No matter how you look at it, smoking is a bad habit.
不管你怎麼看待吸菸，它肯定是一個壞習慣。
But now, it could be even worse for your wallet (錢包)!

2023年的世界棒球經典賽
The 2023 World Baseball Classic
Recently (最近), you may have heard a lot of people talking about baseball (棒球).
That's because the World Baseball Classic (世界棒球經典賽), also called the "W.B.C.", has just finished its final games!
The WBC is an international tournament (國際的比賽) for countries all over the world to play baseball together.
And this year's WBC played baseball games in three different countries… in the US, in Japan, and in Taiwan!
Unfortunately for us, Taiwan didn't win…
But the final game (決賽), between Japan and the US, was super exciting (超級精彩)…
And it was a very close game (競爭激烈的比賽), but Japan won, 3 to 2 (日本贏了，三比二)!
The Japanese team says its "Most Valuable Player" (最有價值球員), or MVP, is a man named Shohei Ohtani (大谷翔平).
Ohtani is the only baseball player in the WBC to play as both a pitcher and a hitter.
大谷翔平是世界棒球經典賽唯一個同場當投手和擊球手的球員。
It's really rare (很少見) for one person to be so good at both!
The next World Baseball Classic will be in the year 2026… only three years away.
And we'll definitely see Shohei Ohtani again…
Let's hope we see Taiwan's team, too!

科學家發現遙遠星球上的塵暴
Scientists Find Dust Storm on a Distant World
Our planet Earth (地球) can have some pretty crazy weather sometimes…
But REALLY scary weather isn't made of rainwater…
最恐怖的天氣並不是以雨水組成的…
It's made of dust (灰塵)!
Scientists have recently found a dust storm (塵暴) on another planet (在另外一個行星上), with help from the James Webb Space Telescope (有了韋伯太空望遠鏡的幫助).
The dust storm is on a giant planet, at least ten times bigger than Jupiter (比木星大至少十倍)!
They say the storm is made of tiny dust particles (小小的灰塵顆粒), that are as hot as a candle fire (跟蠟燭上的火一樣熱).
That's definitely scarier than normal rain!
Thankfully (幸好), this giant planet is around 40 lightyears away from us (離我們四十光年的巨大行星).
But scientists say studying this storm can help them understand weather on other worlds (可以幫他們更深入地了解其他星球上的天氣).
And scientists want to use the Webb Telescope to look at even more planets!
