American Artists Turn Taiwan's Plastic into Art

Taiwan is a beautiful island country (島國).

There are tall mountains, scenic beaches, and a rich culture and history.

Foreigners who travel here often decide to live here because they fall in love with Taiwan.

And two American artists are showing how much they love the island by recycling!

Josh and Andrew have been turning old plastic into cool art pieces (酷炫的藝術品) for a long time.

In 2017, they started a company called Taiwanderful Recycle Company.

Their goal is to teach people that recycling plastic is fun and useful for everyone.

And now, they have a special plan to help the people living on Green Island make money (賺錢) from recycling plastic!

They opened a 'Plastic Recycling Station' on Green Island to turn waste plastic into reusable stuff.

Andrew creates lots of different art pieces from recycled plastic.

He even uses ideas from the local Amis people in his art.

Josh and Andrew hope that their work will make everyone more aware of how important it is to recycle plastic.

They found a way to make art, help the environment, and help people at the same time.

New Zealand's Sheep Population Drops to Record Low

New Zealand is known for its beautiful landscapes (美麗的風景), being the filming location of Lord of the Rings (作為電影《魔戒》拍攝地點), and…sheep!

The weather and land in New Zealand make it perfect (完美) for farmers to keep sheep.

They can eat green grass and run around in the open fields

New Zealand is one of the world's top wool exporters, sending lots of wool overseas every year.

In fact, it's well-known (大家都知道) that there are more sheep than people there!

Back in 1982, there were as many as 22 sheep for every person in New Zealand.

But recently, that number reached a record low

The country released a five-year census of agricultural production

The report says that in 2022, there were fewer than five sheep for every person.

That's the lowest number since the 1850s.

Farming has become more expensive and wool (羊毛) has become cheaper, so there aren't as many sheep as before.

Grandma Runs into World Record

People have different thoughts about the elderly (老年人).

Some people may think they are wise (很有智慧) because they have lived a long time.

Other people might think that old people are not strong or fast, as humans tend to grow weaker with age.

Well, a woman in Canada (加拿大) is changing that perception (觀念)!

Rejeanne Fairhead, a 96-year-old lady from Ottawa (渥太華), became a champion on a hot day when she took part in a big race.

She ran 5 kilometers (5公里) - and guess what?

She became the fastest 96-year old woman in the world!

With her family and her trainer cheering (加油) for her, she ran the race.

She even had a sign that said she was trying to break a world record!

And she did!

She finished the race in 51 minutes and 9 seconds.

She was so fast, she even beat (超過了) 627 other runners.

Mrs. Fairhead's amazing run has made her a star.

But for now, she's happy to relax

She says might race again next year, just for fun
