Today’s show teaches listeners about the importance—particularly on social media—of humblebragging.
Hosts Daphne and Fred share their analysis of the article "Technical Writers: Master the Art of Humblebragging" from the Curt Robbins & Associates Technical Writing Agency that was published on August 28, 2024.
An excerpt from the article: "Recently, my LinkedIn feed delivered to me a post by a technical writer complaining about a number of things on LI. This included overly polished posts, too much celebration, and how so many posts engage in humblebragging—all of which he didn't like. He spent his time at the proverbial mic condemning these things, concluding with a whiny-toned beg for IT pros to just stop it. I felt like I was wading in a pond of negatively and was up to my waist!
"I commented about how I proudly and routinely engage in humblebragging and respect it among my peers and colleagues. Often, my form of humblebragging is my client list (companies like FedEx, Microsoft, Nationwide Insurance, Northrop Grumman, USAA, and Well Fargo) and the number of types and pure volume of technical writing and instructional development in which I've engaged over my 25+ year career.
