In the first episode of 2022, Lydia talks to Sophie Wimborne and Viola Clark about Judaism and what Jewishness has looked like for them as students in Durham. They discuss the differences in the way Judaism is expressed amongst Jewish people and clarify some important aspects of the faith that are often misunderstood. The topic of Jewish culture versus Jewish religion is raised throughout the episode in addition to media representation of the Jewish experience that influences others in their perception of Judaism. Together, Sophie and Viola discuss some of the challenges of living as a Jewish student in Durham before finally sharing one thing they wished people knew about their faith group as well as providing many interesting and enlightening insights into what it’s like to be Jewish at Durham.
