The FMCSA is a key organization within today's logistics and transportation industry. In recent years, it has drawn the ire of many in the industry over its response or apparent lack thereof to issues facing it. Issues like hours of service regulations, the 2017 mandating of ELDs, and most recently, their supposed lack of response to the fraud and double brokering epidemic currently running rampant throughout the industry. In this episode, we will unpack the origin, purpose and functions of the FMCSA and hopefully shed some light on what can we as freight professionals expect from it, why it focuses on certain issues and not others, and what role the FMCSA plays in the overall landscape of logistics.
