This episode looks beneath the headlines to the deeper cause of mass shootings: the human need to be seen and heard. After years of being ignored, ridiculed, or made to feel invisible, frustration can build to breaking point. I speak from my own experience of going seven years unseen, and the dark thoughts that surfaced in me because of it. While I never acted on them, it gave me insight into why some young people, desperate for recognition, turn to violence as a final, twisted way of being noticed. This conversation isn’t about excusing—it’s about understanding, so that maybe we can start addressing the real roots before it’s too late.
