Stephen shares with Jason the idea of becoming ‘indispensable’ inspired from Seth Godin's book ‘Linchpin’. When you become indispensable and you are operating your own business that converts itself into an amazing proposition because if you are truly indispensable then your future is guaranteed. The point Seth Godin makes that if you are an employee and you want to be indispensable, is that companies in the industrial economy are structured in such a way to have Interchangeable parts which do not quite fit with an employee being indispensable as the company would have to rely on that person, however in the connection economy the threat of an employee becoming that vital to an operation is less and less every day.
