Description

Season 2, Episode 45In this episode of Along the Rock, Kaitlyn Blum sits down with Duis Center manager Stephanie Milnes to talk about Water Safety Month, which is May.The Duis Center offers swimming lessons all year-round for people anywhere from 6 months old to adults. They have both group and private lessons. If you’ve completed all swimming lessons and are looking for more, the Duis Center has its own competitive swimming team, the Wahoo Aquatic Club. They also offer lifeguard classes for ages 15 and up which will teach you CPR as well as get you certified to become a lifeguard.Drowning can happen at any time, so it’s important that somebody is always watching. Even with a lifeguard nearby, children 8 and under need to always be with an adult 16 years or older while swimming, and younger kids should be within arm’s reach. Swimsuit color is also important to be able to spot kids who are drowning. You should pick brighter colors, like orange, yellow or light green, as opposed to colors like blue which can be difficult to see under the water. To learn more, visit the website:https://www.sterlingparks.org/
