Description

In this episode, Teresa Biggs, DOM, board-certified Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Biologist, & advanced Yoga teacher, sits down with our first guest, Sophie Jane Hardy as part of the Imposter Syndrome Series.

Sophie-Jane Hardy is a nature and cycle-inspired business coach, writer and podcast host. Her happy place is walking along the Rivelin river in Sheffield, UK where she lives with her husband, son, and Frodo the dog. Her work has evolved over 15 years in the fields of not-for-profit communications, documentary filmmaking, women's leadership and environmental activism. She is the host of the Red School Menstruality Podcast and the creator of the Your Cyclical Business online programme helping purpose-led creatives and changemakers to channel the wisdom of their menstrual cycles to create thriving businesses.

Sophie shares so many gold-nuggets to resource and support us when meeting w/ Imposter Syndrome.  Here are some highlights:

-No matter where we are at or whatever professional or life arc we are on, imposter syndrome can sneak in.

-Sophie names Imposter Syndrome as: experiencing some kind of version of: “I’m not good enough”, “feeling like a fraud”, “I’m not sure I have what it takes”, “who do I think I am to be here”.

-Sophie generously & vulnerably shares her journey of meeting with Imposter Syndrome within her cycle phases, her life, and the first time she met with Imposter Syndrome (also when she was first shining the brightest).

-Can we please have more parties celebrating the Vulva w/ 9 foot Vagina’s?!?!

-Shame as one of the core drivers and roots of Imposter Syndrome.

-The only way out is through.

-In Sophie’s experience in working with hundreds of women, How many have met with Imposters Syndrome?….the answer REALLY SURPRISED ME!!!

-How living in a patriarchal, capitalistic, white supremacist society is designed to make us feel like we are wrong and alone in feeling like an Imposter.

-Naming how women especially experience Imposter Syndrome, because we are inside a culture made for men by men.  Women have been conditioned with messages of “Stay quiet, this is your place, this is not your place”.

-How Sophie resources herself when meeting with Imposter Syndrome.

-It is not what we do, it is Who We Are.

-Meeting the Inner Critic as a voice of Imposter Syndrome.

-When the Inner Critic Voice is loudest in our Cycle + what we do when we meet the Inner Critic.

-How boundaries are important when meeting with our Inner Critic.

-How we can prepare to meet with the Inner Critic in the Autumn phase of our Cycle.

-Sophie’s creation of Your Cyclical Business and what I love most about it.

-How to meet with the people who doubt your calling and add to Imposter Syndrome.

-Creating our Wolf-Pack as a buffering to edge-walking, when meeting people who judge, shame, or criticize us.

-Bean-dipping as a boundary.

Sophie, as my business coach, has been the guide I needed to align my work with my cyclical nature AND my calling.  I would whole-heartedly recommend working with Sophie.
