He details how the business, which focuses on providing AI for business, has experienced massive revenue growth driven by applications in coding and increasingly significant use cases in areas like biomedical science.
Addressing the unique challenges of the industry, Amodei argues that continuous high R&D spending masks the fact that individual model generations are highly profitable. He also emphasized that progress on issues such as hallucinations and continual learning is ongoing.
Finally, Amodei advocates for adopting legislative guardrails to focus the technology and mitigate risks associated with extreme growth (rather than attempting to slow overall progress).
