In her 2025 memoir This Is Not Real Life, former alt-right YouTuber Lauren Southern accuses controversial influencer Andrew Tate of sexually assaulting her in 2018 during a trip to Romania. Southern alleges that after a business meeting, Tate took her to a nightclub, where she became severely intoxicated after minimal alcohol consumption, and he later assaulted her in her hotel room, strangling her despite her protests. Tate and his legal team have denied the allegations, with Tate claiming Southern is seeking attention to boost book sales and his attorney labeling the claims a “marketing ploy” with no evidence.
