Six U.S. Secret Service agents were suspended without pay for 10 to 42 days due to security lapses during the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident, where gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks fired from a rooftop, grazed Trump’s ear, killed firefighter Corey Comperatore, and injured two others, exposed communication breakdowns and inadequate coordination with local law enforcement.
