Main Points or Ideas

  1. Pastors
    • Pastors have responsibility for their children. There are often too high of expectations for the children of the pastor’s kids.
    • If you are going to enter the ministry and God blesses you with kids, you are instructed to be able to manage them.
    • It is not the issue of if your children disobey, it is an issue of how the parents act when their children disobey.
    • If you become a parent you must train your children to obey.
  2. Bishops
    • A bishop must be blameless (v. 7).
    • He must be faithful in his private life in his church and family and in his public life.
  3. Moral Failure
    • You have to be blameless.
    • The worst thing you can do in moral failure is not address it.
    • When a leader fails, don’t give up on God.
    • When we find out about leaders caught in adultery, we don’t need to cast stones or give up on God, but we need that to prod us to be more careful.
    • When you’re not a man or a woman of character it is going to show up and it is going to be a problem.
  4. Five “Nots” (Titus 1)
    • Not Self-Willed
    • Not Quick-Tempered
    • Not Given to Wine

Conclusion

Build these character qualities in your life. Be committed to being blameless. If God blesses you with children, be engaged parents.
