Main Points or Ideas

2 Samuel 2:1-3:1 — the story of two men, one who sought out what the Lord wanted and the other who followed his own agenda

When we seek the Lords leading…

    1. We ask for His direction (vs. 1).

    2. We wait for His perfect timing (vs. 1).

    3. We desire His exact placement (vs. 1).

    4. We obey His specific instructions (vs. 2-3).

    5. We submit to His prescribed process (vs. 4).

    6. We acknowledge His faithful servants (vs. 4-7).

  • That’s what happens when we listen to the Lord’s leading.

When we pursue our own plans…

    1. We ignore the Lord’s authority (vs. 8-11).

    2. We push our own agenda (vs. 8-9).

    3. We set our own parameters (vs. 9).

    4. We settle for second best (vs. 10-11).

    5. We create destructive conflicts (vs. 12-32).

    6. We seal our own fate (3:1).

  • Conclusion

Which of these plans defines your life? Are you following after God or are you pushing your own agenda?
