Welcome to the San Diego County Fair's Insider Guide to what to expect on Sunday, June 22nd, at the San Diego County Fair.
The fair is open from 11 AM to 11 PM, continuing our "Summer Pet-tacular" celebration. For our animal lovers, be sure to visit the "Summer Pet-tacular" themed exhibit. You can play with a giant ball of yarn, "swim" through an aquarium castle, discover strange-but-true animal facts, and even take a fun pet-pairing quiz to see which species best matches your lifestyle. The San Diego Humane Society is also on-site, showcasing dogs, cats, and rabbits available for adoption, giving you a chance to meet your potential new family member.
Also, don't miss the daily GASCAR, the Great American Speedway Crazy Animal Races, where goats, sheep, and pigs race for prizes. We also have Swifty Swine pig races, stunt dog shows, flying acrobats, and more.
And over in the Del Mar Arena, you can see San Diego students show their animals in the annual Junior Livestock Auction.
If you came for the food, prepare yourselves! The Fair boasts over one hundred food vendors, from classic carnival treats like hot dogs and cotton candy to adventurous new creations. Keep an eye out for the finalists from the Fair-Tastic Food Competition – there are some truly wild and delicious options to try. Beyond the special events, enjoy all the Fair favorites. The Fun Zone is open with dozens of rides and carnival games. Explore the various free exhibits, including Farm2U, the Fairview Farm, the beautiful Garden Show and Flower Show, and the traditional livestock barns. You can also visit the Hollandia Milk Booth, which is here through today, to learn about milk production and even try your hand at a fun kids' roping activity.
As evening approaches, prepare for some fantastic live music. Head over to the Corona Grandstand Stage for the main event of the evening: Banda MS, performing at 7:30 PM. Your concert ticket also includes complimentary same-day Fair admission, so it's a fantastic value. Later in the evening, at 9:30 PM, you can catch Modelo Norteño on the Michelob ULTRA Avenue Stage, playing until 11:00 PM.
But if you're looking for an amazing tribute show, be sure to stick around for the Evolution of Pop on the Chevrolet Paddock Stage. The show starts at 9 p.m. and explores the universal songbook of popular music from the funk of the ‘70s to the electro-pop of the 21st century.
