Divine Deablo, a 6-3, 200-pound wide receiver from Mount Tabor, decided on Monday night to commit to Virginia Tech.
“I think all three of those schools that were close to home did a great job of recruiting him,” Marshall said. “They gave him a family atmosphere and I am happy for him and I think he is relieved to get that decision out of the way and concentrate on his senior football season.”
Marshall said that while Deablo will be featured at receiver this fall, he will play some quarterback out of Wildcat package, as he did last season, and could also make cameo appearances on defense.
“His future is at wide receiver and we have a good competition going on for our quarterbacks,” Marshall said.
Deablo said that Virginia Tech is moving more toward a spread offense and that he wasn’t worried about being a part of an offense that didn’t utilize the pass enough.
“They had a plan for me,” Deablo said. “They told me what I would be doing when I get there, the environment is great, they have a great environment they have great fans. I have been to a couple of games and coaches and players treat you like family.”
Deablo can sign a letter of intent as early as Feb. 3, when the NCAA football signing period opens.
