While I have always respected Ferruccio De Bortoli for his insightful articles, I find his perspective on electric vehicles and the energy transition to be misguided. His critique of Carlos Tavares as solely responsible for Stellantis's crisis overlooks the collective responsibility of all stakeholders involved. Moreover, his skepticism about electric vehicles seems out of touch with the urgent need for Italy to embrace this technology. The automotive industry must focus on building electric cars and improving production processes, much like what has been successfully achieved by Chinese manufacturers. With only 4% of electric vehicles sold in Italy, it is imperative that we move beyond outdated perceptions and fully commit to a sustainable future.
