Episode 17- Tracking the Truth: The Mo Wilson’s Story
The murder of Moriah “Mo” Wilson is a tragic case that shook the cycling community and gained national attention due to its elements of love, jealousy, and a dramatic international manhunt.
Moriah Wilson was a rising star in the elite gravel cycling world, known for her incredible talent and promising future. At 25 years old, she was one of the top competitors in her sport and had traveled to Austin, Texas, in May 2022 to compete in an upcoming race.
On May 11, 2022, Wilson was found shot to death in an Austin apartment. Investigators quickly discovered that she had spent time earlier that evening with Colin Strickland, a fellow professional cyclist and former romantic partner. Strickland was in a long-term relationship with Kaitlin Armstrong, a yoga instructor.
Authorities believe Armstrong, motivated by jealousy, tracked Wilson’s location, broke into the apartment, and fatally shot her. Surveillance footage, ballistic evidence, and a vehicle matching Armstrong’s were linked to the crime scene.
Shortly after being questioned by police, Armstrong fled the country, using a fake passport to travel to Costa Rica, where she changed her appearance and lived under a false identity for over 40 days. She was eventually tracked down and arrested by U.S. Marshals in June 2022.
