Mary sings praises to God, celebrating the incarnation. Jesus is the prince who became a pauper, so that we might go from rags to riches as members of his kingdom. As St. Paul writes, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."
