JODDIE'S FIVE TIPS FOR CONTENT CREATION:
*This episode originally appeared on my SnackySays podcast. CLICK HERE to see the original substack post including images.
1. Commit to being consistent | Whatever that means to you - daily, weekly, monthly, etc. (your audience, readers, followers, etc., know what to expect, and you’ll get in the habit of putting out videos, content, podcast episodes, newsletters, etc.)
2. Start & Keep Going
3. Set yourself up for success
- Make it easy for folks to contact you (business email (Gmail is fine IMHO)
- Have something for sale
- Make it easy to find your offers (link in bio, on your website, etc)
- Make it easy to pay you (If you don’t have a website or checkout page, consider using Pensight, PayPal, Venmo, Payhip, Gumroad, etc.)
- “Every mickle make a muckle” (…every dime you make adds up to greater sums)
4. Educate Yourself/Up-skill/Gain New Skills
- Online courses
- Free resources in your community and online
- YouTube University (Whatever your interest, you will likely find some guidance on YouTube)
- Hey, maybe even pay for certifications and/or a degree. (This, to me, is a big decision. Perhaps do your due diligence, especially if it’s a costly certification or degree regarding time and money.)
5. Expect Failure - get your lipstick ready and start kissing them frogs!
RESOURCES/MENTIONED
- Mai-kee Tsang | The Sustainable Visibility Digital Thingamabob Event will be back in 2025.
- Birte of BirdyAnd | Birte’s presentation, Supportive Systems: Setting Yourself Up in Order to Receive, during Mai-kee’s event was the catalyst for me adding my PayPal donation page (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=CGJZ99CWL5HAY) and creating a proper Offers page.
- Pensight is the “link in bio” site I use to sell digital products, including my Self Care Stayfit Printable/Digital Journal. Pensight brings all the tools you need to build and deliver your digital products and services in one place. You can use it even if you don’t have a website!
- I started a micro-business diary a few weeks ago and put this Creative Courage Badge sticker from Cheery Human Studios on it for inspiration. FYI, here is the pocket notebook that I put it on.
- If you’re starting or restarting content creation or any entrepreneurial endeavor, this Venn Diagram from Rose Han’s 6 Realistic Side Hustles You Can Do Remotely in 2024 video might help give you some direction.
