Welcome to The Archangel Smiley Podcast.
Long ago, after a great and terrible flood swept the earth, the world lay in ruin. Cities were buried under water and mud, fields lay barren, and humanity had been reduced to small, scattered groups struggling for survival. It was then, as the stories say, that Oannes and the Seven Sages emerged from the waters, their appearance marking a turning point in the history of humankind.
Oannes, a being half-fish and half-man, came from the sea, radiant with wisdom and knowledge. His voice, soothing and deep, carried the secrets of the heavens and the earth. He was said to be a servant of the gods, sent to restore balance and teach humanity the ways of civilization. Oannes brought with him the Seven Sages, each a master of a specific craft and lore, their wisdom older than the stars.
The Sages spread across the land, each taking a region under their care. One taught the people how to plant crops and cultivate the earth, bringing forth food from barren soil. Another introduced the art of building, showing how to construct homes, temples, and cities. A third sage revealed the secrets of the stars and the calendar, enabling humans to measure time and predict the seasons. Others shared writing, mathematics, law, and the principles of governance, ensuring that justice and order would prevail.
Oannes, their leader, remained by the sea, guiding the Sages and visiting the people to ensure their progress. His teachings were said to be divinely inspired, blending science, spirituality, and art into a harmonious way of life. Under their combined guidance, humanity rebuilt their cities and thrived once more, erecting monuments and temples to honor their celestial benefactors.
When their work was done, Oannes and the Seven Sages returned to the sea, promising to watch over humanity and to return if they were ever needed again. Their legacy endured in the myths and traditions of many cultures, from the Sumerians who called him Oannes to the Greeks who named him Ea, the divine teacher.
Even now, their story reminds us that wisdom and cooperation can rebuild the world, no matter how great the loss.
