A spate of brutal bush turkey attacks on backyard chickens has shocked the residents of south eastQueensland. According to local reports, the protected native birds are violently attempting to breed with domestic chooks, whose population has swelled after many households installed coops following the panic buying of eggs during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a further complication, Gweela (as they are sometimes referred to) are protected under Queensland law and harming them can lead to fines or even jail time.

A group of knife-wielding men held up a delivery van in Hong Kong on Monday taking off with a precious cargo of...toilet paper. The residents of the city had been hoarding the 100 rolls amid a corona-virus induced run of everything from masks to rice despite repeated assurances of sufficient supply. Police said the prized rolls - worth about $200 have since been recovered and that two suspects had been detained.
