A British citizen has been arrested in Japan after a police officer spotted him dumping the remains of his lunch in a postbox. The man said he thought the receptacle was a rubbish bin, but the investigators in Kamakura revealed there had been a spate of incidents involving food waste in recent months, including three at the same spot where the man was arrested. The 37-year-old is charged with violating Japan’s waste management law but he could also face penalties under the country’s postal laws.
