We're in one of the most interconnected times in history while also facing some interesting psychological side-effects of loneliness and physical disconnection. There are greater opportunities than ever to fulfill our life's missions and work without having to interface with others so much, which brings with it the challenge of now having to seek out connection for it's own sake instead of having connection as a byproduct of utility. This means we have to acknowledge the work that we're not doing to actively connect with others and therefore we can't just blame social media and technology for our blunders of missed connection. We need to take a nice hard look at ourselves, how we connect, who we really are, and what messages we're putting out there so that we can genuinely connect in person, much like we used to.
