Description

In TCM, Blood deficiency and Yin deficiency are two distinct patterns that are often confused. Blood deficiency is characterized by symptoms like pallor, dizziness, heart palpitations, and dry skin - the Blood literally cannot nourish the organs anymore. Yin deficiency, on the other hand, involves depletion of cooling, moistening energy: think night sweats, hot flashes, insomnia, and a feeling of internal heat.

The difference lies in the cause and manifestation. Blood deficiency often arises from blood loss, poor nutrition, or excessive menstruation. Yin deficiency develops through chronic stress, overwork, or prolonged illness that depletes the reserves.

Recognition is crucial for effective treatment - both patterns can occur simultaneously and mixed and then require a combined approach.
