Have you ever said something in the heat of the moment and immediately regretted it? We all have. Words are powerful, and once they’re out there, we can’t take them back. Proverbs 21:23 reminds us that guarding what we say can save us from a lot of drama. But let’s be real—life gets overwhelming, and in the middle of the stress, we often lash out, complain, or just say things that don’t reflect who we want to be.

That’s where Psalm 94 meets us. It reminds us that even when our hearts are heavy, God offers comfort. And the best part? Hebrews 7–8 shows us that Jesus is our perfect High Priest. His promise isn’t based on how well we behave but on a better covenant—one where He helps us live a life that reflects His grace, even in how we speak.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Words Matter: How do your words affect the people around you? Are they encouraging or hurtful? What can you do to be more intentional with your speech?

2. God's Comfort Is Real: When you're feeling overwhelmed or anxious, where do you turn? How can you let God’s comfort in, like Psalm 94 describes?

3. A Better Promise: Jesus’ new covenant is based on grace. Are you living like you have to earn God's approval, or are you trusting in His better promise?

BOTTOM LINE

The way we speak reflects what's going on in our hearts. Guarding our words, trusting God in hard times, and living in the freedom of Jesus’ better promise can change how we handle life—and help us grow into who God created us to be.
