“The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. All day long he craves and craves, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.” — Proverbs 21:25–26

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” — Hebrews 11:6

Ever feel like you’re stuck wanting things to change—your grades, your habits, your future—but not really doing anything about it? Or maybe you’ve dreamed big but stopped short because it felt too hard or too far away. In Proverbs 21:25–26, we’re warned about letting desire replace action.

And in Hebrews 11, we’re reminded of what really moves us forward: faith. Not just believing in something, but acting like it’s true. The people listed in Hebrews 11 didn’t just wish—they walked in obedience. They moved when God said “go,” even when they couldn’t see the outcome. This chapter reminds us: faith isn’t about sitting still. It’s about stepping forward, even when it’s scary or unclear.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Desire vs. Doing: What’s something you’ve been wanting to see change in your life? Are you just craving, or are you willing to put in effort and trust God with the results?

2. Faith in Motion: Look at the people in Hebrews 11—Noah built a boat before rain existed, Abraham left everything without a map. What does real faith look like in your life today?

3. Give It Away: Proverbs talks about the righteous giving freely. Are you living generously with your time, your encouragement, your gifts—or holding back because you don’t feel “ready” yet?

BOTTOM LINE

Faith isn’t just about believing—it’s about moving. God honors those who trust Him enough to act, even when the future is fuzzy. Don’t just crave change—walk in faith toward it.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us that faith is more than a feeling—it’s a way of living. Help me to trust You with both my dreams and my daily steps. Teach me to work hard, give freely, and walk boldly even when I can’t see what’s ahead. I don’t want to just wish for more—I want to follow You into it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
