Sometimes, life can feel like it’s completely out of our control—because, honestly, a lot of it is. Whether it's school, relationships, family stuff, or decisions about the future, it’s easy to get overwhelmed or wonder if things will ever fall into place. But Proverbs 21:1 reminds us that even the hearts of kings—people with major power and influence—are like streams of water in God's hands. That means God's not just involved in the big picture; He’s personally shaping and guiding the details, even when we can’t see it yet. And in 1 Thessalonians, we see how God doesn’t just guide us, He chooses us, loves us, and desires to be close to us. Paul’s prayer in chapter 3 shows that God is always working behind the scenes, directing our steps and drawing us toward what’s good and true.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. God’s in control: Where in your life do you feel like things are uncertain or out of your hands? How can remembering that God turns hearts like streams give you peace?

2. You are chosen: Paul reminded the Thessalonians that they were loved by God and chosen. How might your confidence change if you remembered every day that God has handpicked you?

3. God guides relationships: Paul longed to reconnect with people he loved, and he trusted God to “direct his way.” Are there friendships or family situations where you need to trust God’s timing and direction?
